Here are some important dates to remember for retirement:

Age 50: Ability to make catch-up contributions to your retirement accounts
Age 55: Ability to make catch-up contributions to your HSA
Age 59 1/2: Penalty-free IRA withdrawals become available
Age 62: Earliest date to receive Social Security benefits
Age 66: Full Retirement age for Social Security (born 1943-1954)
Age 67: Full Retirement age for Social Security (born 1960)
Age 70: Latest Social Security benefits election
Age 70 1/2: Required Minimum Distribution commence

In late December, the SECURE Act was signed into law. These are the top three changes you need to know. Top Three Things to Know for Individuals: 1. Required minimum distributions from your qualified retirement accounts now start at age 72, previously 70 ½ 2. Wavies penalty for pre-59 ½ plan distributions for an adoption or childbirth expenses 3.
